The 2021 Suzuki Vitara Could Be A Hyundai Creta Killer In India!

The all new Suzuki Vitara will reportedly be unveiled in October

The Japanese publication Best Car Web has let out some interesting news on Suzuki. The publication reports that the carmaker would unveil the 2021 Suzuki Vitara in October and has shared a few renderings of it as well. The images suggest the Vitara to be an apt rival for sub-compact SUVs like Honda HRV and Renault Captur. If they bring this down to India, the Vitara could even beat the Hyundai Creta in sales.

The next-generation Suzuki Vitara would be a fresh model in terms of design. Though details of the same are scarce, the render shows larger-yet stylish grille and headlamps which could remind one of the Volkswagen T Roc, pronounced front fenders, a higher beltline etc. The new car would be bigger than the outgoing model in every sense but the wheelbase.

What really needs an update in the outgoing Suzuki Vitara is its interior. The cabin of this car, like many other Suzukis of the time, look absolutely lack-luster. It is high time that Suzuki considered giving it an upmarket cabin design. The equipment list should also be revised quite a bit. We hope both these things get taken care of in the next-generation car.

Minimal changes are expected on the mechanical fronts. The engine would most probably be carried over from the outgoing model. The same being a 48V mild-hybrid unit consisting of a power-assisted 1.4L turbo petrol unit, was introduced recently in the range. The power and torque figures are 129PS and 235 Nm respectively for the petrol engine and an additional 13.6 PS and 10Nm for the assisting electric motor.

India Launch

Maruti Suzuki, in our opinion, should bring this down to India. There have been rumors of the carmaker readying a 4m+ premium compact SUV for India. Though details are scarce of this yet, this could really be the global or a market-specific version of the Suzuki Vitara. If it does launch here, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos would have some serious competition. The B segment SUV segment is in high demand in the country. The Creta and Seltos have been dominating the market in recent times.
