Royal Enfield Scram 411 Launched in India At Rs 2.03 Lakh

Royal Enfield Scram 411 is mechanically based on the popular Himalayan ADV

Royal Enfield has launched the much-awaited Scram 411, a scrambler or ‘ADV crossover’ as RE calls it, based on the Himalayan. Offered in seven colors and 3 variants, the Scram 411 is priced between Rs. 2.03 – 2.08 Lakhs, ex-showroom. Test rides have started in India, and the sales are also on the roll. Royal Enfield also has plans of taking this to Europe and a few Asia Pacific markets by mid-2022. Further ahead, RE Scrambler is also expected to hit North and Latin Americas as well.

What Is Royal Enfield Scram 411?

The Scram 411, as its name suggests, is a scrambler and like most other scramblers we’ve known, stands a step or two beneath a full-grown ADV in terms of terrain-capabilites. It is thus a more road-focussed iteration of the highly popular Royal Enfield Himalayan. While the Himalayan is a true, wild, old-school adv motorcycle that would let you scale possibly any terrain, the Scram 411 would offer improved road manners and meeker off-road abilities than the ADV. This would let you tackle the daily city and highway runs comfortably and go on the weekend exploration with near-equal ease.

Design

RE Scram 411 gets the design essence of a pure-bred scrambler. It stands clear of any loud, misleading visual influence of the Himalayan, even while reminding one of the same at certain areas of design. It is underpinned by the same frame as the Himalayan and has a 19-inch wheel at the front and 17 inch unit at the rear. These are shod with dual-purpose tyres for added usability across surfaces. The motorcycle also comes with a reworked saddle which is claimed to offer more comfort over long rides and a refreshed rider triangle. It has an analog-digital combination cluster for instrumentation and the Tripper Navigation is available as an accessory.

Taking inspirations from various cultures from various places, there are 7 exciting colorways on offer on the Scram 411- White flame, Silver spirit, Blazing Black, Skyline Blue, Graphite yellow, Graphite blue, and Graphite red.

Engine And Other Specifications

RE Scram 411 borrows its mechanicals directly from the Himalayan. It is underpinned by the same chassis as the ADV, which was originally designed by Harris Performance. It also uses the globally acclaimed LS 410 engine unit from the Himalayan with identical outputs. This if you might remember, had undergone minor revisions in the BS6 Himalayan.

Long story short, the Scram 411 has its 411cc, single-cylinder engine produce 24.3 hp at 6500 rpm, and a peak torque of 32 Nm, mated to the 5-speed transmission unit with a wet multi-plate clutch.

The Scram is built on the Himalayan’s half-duplex split cradle frame; the front suspension is handled by 41 mm telescopic forks with 190 mm of travel, while the rear mono-shock offers 180mm travel. The motorcycle also comes with a dual-channel ABS.
