Jaguar Type 01 Revealed!
Jaguar has revealed the production-ready Type 01 electric car.
Unlike the pink-and-blue Type 00, the Type 01 gets a restrained silver exterior.
Inside, Jaguar has chosen an “orchid white” theme.
Jaguar has also ditched its provocative launch campaign for a performance-focused ad.
The original pink campaign was widely mocked and even drew criticism from Donald Trump.
Jaguar now wants to present the Type 01 as a real car for real customers.
But the Type 01 still carries the radical design ideas of the Type 00 concept.
Jaguar wants fewer sales, higher prices and a stronger ultra-luxury image.
The Type 01 features brass-effect aluminum and an unusual five-plane body panel.
It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.
Jaguar also wants to attract a younger, fashion-conscious and affluent audience.
The Type 01 claims up to 400 miles of range on a full charge.
It even gets simulated engine sounds and a long hood to retain a sporty character.
Expected to start around $130,500, the Type 01 now has to prove Jaguar's bold reinvention can sell.
