The BS6 Toyota Camry is priced at INR 37.88 lakh in India.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has given their flagship sedan a BS6 iteration in India. The BS6 Toyota Camry has now been launched at a price of INR 37.88 lakh, ex.showroom. Yes, that is a hefty bump of over INR 93000 in the price of the BS6 car. The changes here, seem to have been confined to the emission alone in the BS6 Camry .
The car retains the feature and equipment lists of the previous car. There are the familiar bits from the old car intact, like the large touchscreen infotainment system, 9 speaker JBL surround sound system, electric sunroof, three-zone climate control etc. No new additions have been made as such.
Changes in the powertrain have been limited to reduced emissions. The car still runs on the familiar petrol hybrid powertrain from the previous model. The 2.5L four-pot gasoline engine here and the associated mechanicals have gone through serious modifications so that the BS6 norms are met effectively. However, this engine together with the electric motor still produces 218 PS of power. The Camry can operate in IC engine, pure EV, and hybrid modes. A number of driving modes are also given to it for added convenience.
The BS6 Camry, in keeping with its predecessor, sees no compromise in safety and offers nine airbags, ABS, EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and electronic stability control among many other safety features and technologies. It does not have a rival as such in the present market scenario. However, things might change when Skoda comes up with the BS6 Super sometime later.
