The 2020 Range Rover Velar SV Autobiography Dynamic Edition Is A Beast In Disguise !

Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition flaunts some seriously mean looks and an even meaner mill …

You and I know that the Range Rover Velar is one such beautiful mid-size SUV that one can continuously stare at for days and still walk away unbored of. The SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition further beefs up things through some prominent cosmetic upgradations and a beastly V8! No, the R-Dynamic HSE with its 3.0 L V6 is no more the apex for the SUV, and we now have the 5.0L V8 powered SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition taking the place.

Essentially a product of Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) wing, the vehicle is the second model in the Range Rover family to have worn the ‘SVAutobiography Dynamic’ title and is thus placed right beneath the Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic.

Michael van der Sande, Managing Director, Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, said: “Developing the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is the kind of task Special Vehicle Operations was made for. The challenge here was to increase performance without compromising the composure, capability and refinement inherent in Range Rover Velar. We’ve done this and, in the process, created an SUV that strikes a brilliant balance between go-anywhere practicality, dynamic performance and relaxing comfort – it truly is an SUV for any occasion.”

A new bumper at the front with larger air intakes for the beastly V8 under the hood, new grille and lower side mouldings, revised rear bumper with integrated quad exhaust finishers, premium touch on the Range Rover lettering, a contrast Narvik Black roof and a SVO exclusive Satin Byron Blue shade sum up the changes on the exterior. There is even a transmission tunnel undertray for better aerodynamics.

Gerry McGovern, Chief Design Officer, Land Rover, said: “Our continued evolution is driven by a relentless focus on creating highly desirable vehicles our customers will love for life. The new Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition amplifies the highly desirable nature of the 2018 World Car Design winner by introducing a compelling combination of heightened performance and luxury.”

The distinctive forged Aluminium wheels look jaw-droppingly beautiful. The 53.34 cm (21) wheels on the SVAutobiography weigh the same as the 20inchers on the standard car- that says it all! Also on offer are optional 22 inch wheels with a unique silver sparkle finish and diamond turned edging.

Things worth applauding on the inside include the unique sports steering wheel with specially contoured rim, tactile aluminium gear shift paddles, knurled finishes on the rotary gear selector and circular control dials for the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system. A unique Carbon fibre pack for the interior can also be opted for, along with a distinctive steel weave, while sports pedals and illuminated metal treadplates with Range Rover script. There is even an SV special 12.3 inch Interactive Driver Display with unique ‘digitally knurled’ dials.

The biggest surprise, however, is the engine itself. The 380 hp 3.0L V6 of the R Dynamic HSE has now made way for a much mightier 5.0L Supercharged V8 petrol mill that is good enough to let out a whopping 542 hp (404 kW)! It may also be noted here that the full-size Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic produces 557 hp. The Velar weighing around 350 pounds less than the Range Rover, has an upper hand on performance for sure. This means that the 0-60mph comes in as fast as in 4.3 seconds and the vehicle can go up to 170mph (274 kmph)! Things like the brakes, Active Rear Locking Differential, eight-speed transmission, steering and air suspension have been upgraded to cop up well with the boost in performance.

Stuart Adlard, SV Senior Vehicle Engineering Manager, Land Rover, said: “The Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition retains the all-terrain capability and comfort customers expect from a Range Rover, with an even more rewarding and engaging driving experience. The result is a composed and luxurious SUV that looks, sounds and feels unique.”

Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is indeed the most driver focussed model in the range and is as much exclusive as it is practical, with the sale limited to just one year. So in case you want one, get it today…
