First lot of Tesla Semi Trucks delivered to PepsiCo
Delivery took place at the Tesla Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada.
Elon Musk had unveiled the Semi truck in 2017.
The project was however delayed due to the pandemic.
PepsiCo placed an order for 100 Semi trucks in December 2017, along with other majors like Anheuser-Busch, Walmart and UPS
Tesla delivered at least 5 Semis at the event with PepsiCo and Frito-Lay brandings on them.
PepsiCo will use these to replace the diesel trucks at thier facility.
Tesla claims the Semi to have a range of up to 500 miles (800km) and to accelerate from
0 to 60mph in 20 seconds, fully loaded.
The Tesla Semi can carry a load of 80000 pound(40 tons)
The Semi truck gets a tri-motor setup- three independant motors at the rear axles , that ensure maximum performance and optimum energy efficiency.
It can do highway speeds comfortably
The Semi promises fuel savings of up to $200,000 over three years
The production form has a tall and high cabin with a single,centre-sitting driver seat.
-There is no word yet if Tesla Autopilot will be offered on the semi or not.
-We don't have a clue on the battery size either
