2020 Volvo S60 India Debut On NOV 27!

The new S60 will be revealed through a digital event considering the current scenario

When the third-generation Volvo S60 was unveiled globally in 2018, it did attract many customers worldwide. The new S60 will be launched in India by first quarter of 2021. As part of the same, the official India debut will commence on November 27, 2020. The S60 will be sold with only one petrol engine option and only one variant. We expect it to be the top-spec R-Design variant.

The petrol motor on offer will be a 2.0L, four-cylinder unit which is available in different states of tune, globally, the power figures ranging from 190hp for the turbo petrol T4, to the peak 390hp for the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid. An 8-speed automatic tranny is common across all variants. Volvo is likely to offer the lower-spec S60 T4 version in India as is the case with the Volvo XC40.

Volvo has ditched the Ford-derived chassis we have seen in the previous generation S60 that was on sale in India from 2011 to 2019. The new S60 is backed by Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform and unsurprisingly received a 5-star safety rating from Euro-NCAP. The previous-generation model also had a 5-star safety rating from the US-NCAP. No question of safety when it comes to Volvos.

The ingenious design elements on the new S60 resembles of the flagship sedan, the S90. Thor’s hammer headlights, two-part front grille, C-shaped tail-lights, and the crease at the bottom of the doors and front fenders on the S60 makes it more Volvo now. And is ready to hit the ground competing with the BMW 3 series, Mercedes Benz C-Class, and the Audi A4.
