2022 Honda Civic Unveiled With Bose Premium Sound System | All Details

The Honda Civic looks much cleaner and eye-pleasing in its 11th generation

Honda cars has revealed the 2022 Honda Civic sedan for North America. Entering its 11th generation worldwide, the new Civic gets significant design updates and other changes. The car has now grown in size, is tech-packed and claimed to be more fun to drive. The new Civic will be available in four different variants:

  • LX
  • Sport
  • EX
  • Touring

Design

The design of the 11th generation Civic stays close to the prototype that was showcased in November 2020. The new car seems to have matured on the design front. The design has become much simpler and cleaner. There are fewer lines and creases now and the car still has a low and wide stance. The new Civic is longer than its predecessor, with a good 36mm hike in length.

The new Civic has sunken LED headlamps, which look great on the car. The grille has become sleeker and the fog lamps and bumpers too have changes gone into them. The silhouette now looks cleaner and more like a three door sedan than the previous model’s coupe-ish shape. The position of the wing mirrors too has changed on the new Civic. The rear gets a pair of beautiful LED taillamps and a decent looking boot design. The new Civic can be had with 16,17 and 18 inch wheels.

Interior

The first official images of the 2022 Honda Civic confirm the cabin to be identical to the sketches released earlier. The dash now sits quite low and gets a unique honeycomb patterned strip, integrated into which are the air-con vents. The car also comes with an analog-7 inch MID combo instrumentation and a configurable 10.2 inch LCD cluster on offer.

There are 7.0 inch and 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment systems available on various variants, hosting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto among other features. The 12 speaker Bose Premium Sound System is a first for the Civic nameplate. The climate control, as a matter of relief, gets classy-looking physical knobs and buttons.

Mechanicals : Platform, Engine

Unlike its predecessor, the 2022 Honda Civic is underpinned by an all new platform, which is longer and offer more rigidity. The rear track has been widened, providing for increased stability. The suspension also sees major tweaks, thereby improving the handling and ride quality. The steering too has been reworked.

There are two engine options on offer on the 2022 Civic for North America. You can either have it with a naturally aspirated 2.0L four-cylinder petrol putting out 160 horses and 187 Nm or a 1.5L turbocharged petrol churning out 182 hp and 240 Nm. We are yet to get details of the transmission and other mechanical components.

On the safety front, the new sedan gets Honda’s new front airbags, ABS, Traffic Jam assist, false start prevention and low speed braking control.

India Launch?

Honda had discontinued the 10th generation Civic in India recently, due to its low sales figures. The CRV had also been axed back then. Thus with its entire focus on the likes of Jazz, WRV, Amaze and the City, it remains to be seen if Honda would bring back the Civic nameplate to the Indian soil.
