2022 Honda XRE 300 (Himalayan Rival) Launched In Brazil

The all new Honda XRE 300 gets a bunch of significant upgrades

Honda has launched its all-new ADV motorcycle- XRE 300 in Brazil with a host of noteworthy updates. Available in two distinct variants- XRE Adventure and XRE Rally, the motorcycle has Royal Enfield Himalayan as its direct rival. The other major contender in the segment is the Yamaha XTZ 250. What has the all-new baby ADV from Honda got to flaunt? Let’s find out…

Honda XRE 300: Major Design And Feature Highlights

Honda XRE 300 looks like a baby Africa Twin, with the mean looks, tall stance, and visual aggression from the bigger bike carefully carried over. The key design highlights include a dual-LED headlamp unit, shark LED turn indicators, sharp-looking nose, muscular fuel tank, upswept exhaust, spoke wheels with off-road tyres ( 21 inch F, 18 inch R), familiar-looking grab rail, and a single-piece seat that looks much like the one on the Africa Twin. There is even a short visor on offer.

The motorcycle stands quite tall and has raked, long-travel front forks, and a Pro-Link unit at the rear. The handlebar is wider and riding position quite upright. Multiple body panels would remind you of the Africa Twin. The XRE 300 gets a good looking digital instrument cluster with a host of information on offer.

Powertrain Details

The XRE 300 gets a 291.6cc single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine as its powerhouse and gets FlexOne technology in Brasil, letting it run on both Gasoline and Ethanol, switchable with ease. The motor produces 26 hp and 27 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Honda claims a top speed of 135 kph for the bike which gets all-wheel discs and dual-channel ABS as well.

India Debut?

While we have had no official word on this yet, Honda could really consider launching this motorcycle in India, as the ADV game here is rapidly growing. The manufacturer already has the Africa Twin on sale here, had earlier launched the CB500X (at a highly ambitious price though!) and most recently the CB200X as well. Thus, the XRE 300 if launched here, would be a handsome take on the Himalayan and KTM 250 Adventure. To further underline suspicions, the name XRE has already been trademarked here, as per previous document leaks.
