Kia Carens Crosses 50K Bookings

Amid the semiconductor shortage, Kia has delivered 5,300 units of Carens so far

Kia India has announced that bookings for the recently-launched Carens have crossed 50,000 since its start on January 14, 2022.

Carens, cleverly labeled by Kia as a ‘Recreational Vehicle (RV)’ than an MPV, has apparently struck a chord with modern Indian families, as around 60% of the bookings came from Tier 1 and 2 cities. The Luxury and Luxury Plus variants constitute 45% of the overall bookings. Around 50% of orders are for diesel variants, and 30% of customers prefer the automatic transmission. In February, Kia has delivered 5,300 units of Carens amidst the prevailing semiconductor shortage.

Kia Carens has high focus on aesthetics, design, cabin experience and features. The spacious MPV borrows its powertrains from the popular Seltos. You can check out our first-drive review of the Carens to know our thoughts on the top-spec turbo petrol variant.

Commenting on the milestone, Myung-Sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said the Carens has created a never-before excitement in the family mover segment. He also hoped the shortage of semiconductor chips would improve from Q2 onwards. To cut down the delivery period, Kia has started the third shift at the Anantapur facility from March 2022, said Myung-Sik Sohn.
