Mercedes AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ Launched At Rs 2.45 Crore

The non-AMG EQS 580 will launch next month

Mercedes Benz has launched its electric luxury sedan EQS in India. The vehicle is available in the AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ guise for now and is priced at Rs 2.45 crore, ex-showroom. That, if you see, is 88 lakh more than the S Class. The manufacturer’s first all-electric model for India was the EQC, which sits a whopping 1.46 crore below the EQS. The electric sedan is brought via the CBU route. Mercedes will launch the non-AMG EQS 580 next month, which would, however, be locally assembled.

Mercedes AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+: What Is It?

The EQS gets a smooth, cab-forward design. While the signature saloon proportions are maintained, the all-electric powertrain has benefitted the exterior and interior designs much. The EQS 53 comes with a few AMG-spec design cues like a bespoke black panel front grille with vertical Chrome struts, aggressive bumper designs, 21-inch wheels, and a bigger rear spoiler and diffuser. Mercedes claims the vehicle to have an attractive drag coefficient of 0.23.

The EQS gets a luxurious and spacious cabin. It has a lot of features on offer like the Hyperscreen, 64-colour ambient lighting, Burmester audio, massaging function for seats etc. It is the first car to come with the ‘MBUX Hyperscreen’ in India. This new-age screen cluster consists of three screens joined together seamlessly to look like a single-piece curved glass screen stretching along the entire width of the cabin. The system gets 24 GB RAM, 8 CPUs and makes generous use of AI in delivering an engaging user experience.

Mercedes AMG EQS 53 gets a 107.8 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack that can charge at speeds of up to 200 kW with a fast charger. With bespoke wiring and efficient battery and thermal managements, it claims a range of 586 km per charge. The vehicle comes with Sport and Sport+ modes. The India-spec AMG EQS 53 gets the Dynamic Plus package as standard. The EV has 761 hp and 1020 Nm on tap and does 0-100 kph in just 3.4 seconds. The top speed is 250 kph.

EQS 53 AMG gets highly improved multi-link front and rear suspensions. There are also the AMG Ride Control+ and rear-wheel steering for better handling. The EV also comes with the AMG Track Pace mode that records various key data while driving on the track.

Mercedes Charging Network Coming Up!

Mercedes Benz has plans of actively setting up ultra-fast charging points across the country. The target is to have the charging network spread across 80 percent of India by the end of this year. 180 kW Ultra-fast DC, 60 kW fast DC, and 22 kW AC chargers would be built under this initiative. Access to these would be exclusive to Mercedes Benz customers and would be free for the first year.
