2022 MG Gloster: What Are The Changes?

There are no changes on the new Gloster, big enough to get to your notice in the first go. Visually the new vehicle is almost identical to the one it replaces. The design, dimensions, and most highlights remain the same. However, 2022 MG Gloster gets a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels- offered only on the 4WD variants, and the 2WDs would continue with the previous wheel designs. The new Gloster is available in a choice of 4 colors- Metal Black, Metal Ash, Warm White, and a new Deep Golden. Agate Red has been discontinued for 2022.

There are, however, more significant changes on the equipment list. The ADAS suite has been improved and now gets additional functions like door open warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist. Plus, the i-Smart connectivity pack gets more Hinglish voice commands, supports more functions, and comes with more features like Android smartwatch connectivity. The Map My India-sourced navigation system also comes improved now, offering information on weather and air quality. There is also the option to reserve parking slots via the system.

2022 MG Gloster: No Mechanical Changes!

MG Gloster gets no major mechanical changes on the update. It continues to be powered by the 2.0L diesel in two states of tune- turbo producing 163 hp and twin-turbo churning out 218 hp. However, unlike the car it replaces, 2022 Gloster gets the 163 hp diesel now comes on all three trims. The 218 hp 4WD powertrain that used to be available on both the Sharp and Savvy trims previously, now comes just on the top-spec Savvy variant. The transmission on offer is the familiar 8-speed automatic. Check out our MG Gloster Review for detailed impressions of how well this powertrain fares on our roads.

Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq would be the key rivals to the updated Gloster. It would also face some competition from the recent D-aspirant- Scorpio N.
