2022 Yamaha FZS Launched From Rs 1.10 Lakh

Yamaha FZS gets a few styling tweaks and some additional equipment for 2022

Yamaha India has launched the 2022 FZS in the country priced from Rs 1.10 lakh for the standard motorcycle. A new FZS DLX now tops the FZ 150 lineup, and has a tag of Rs 1.19 lakh around its shoulder. Yamaha’s popular moniker gets a minor cosmetic overhaul with the update and now looks even more appealing.

What’s New?

While most of the basic design remains untouched, the colour palette has been thoroughly revised. A bunch of new exciting colours have now joined the game, and across the variants. The tail has had slight reworks and now come with a fresh tail lamp design. The previous conventional tail lamps are gone and the new design seems period-relevant.

2022 FZS-Fi is now available in two shades- Matte Blue and Matte Red. The range-topping FZS Fi DLX variant, however, gets even more flair to its design, courtesy of the new body graphics, unique colour schemes (Black Metallic X, Deep Red Metallic X and Pastel Dark Grey), coloured wheels and contrasting seat upholstery shades.

Yamaha FZS Dlx (Deluxe) for 2022 also gets a few additional features like the LED headlamp and tail lamps, LED blinkers (Yamaha says these would be installed by the dealerships as ‘free’ accessories) etc. Yamaha has also given the new FZ range its familiar negative instrument cluster and the FZS DLX also comes with Bluetooth-based connectivity functions like ‘locate my bike’, e-lock, and answer back.

Specifications

The mechanicals remain almost untouched on the 2022 Yamaha FZS. The motorcycle continues to draw its juice from the familiar 149cc, single-cylinder, engine that produces 12.4 hp and 13.3 Nm. The transmission on offer is a 5-speed unit and the motorcycle has telescopic front forks and rear mono-shock with preload adjustment. 2022 FZS gets disc brakes for both its wheels and there is a dual-channel ABS on offer on the higher variants.

Price And Variants

The 2022 Yamaha FZ range has 3 different variants- FZ-Fi, FZS and the new FZS DLX. Much thought has apparently gone into the pricing part. The base-spec bears a price of Rs 1.10 lakh ( ex-showroom), the mid-spec FZS is priced at Rs 1.16 lakh and the new top-spec FZS Deluxe has an ex-showroom price of 1.19 lakh.

As it goes, the base-spec motorcycle has succeeded in retaining a fair price tag. The FZS used to be the range-topping variant previously, but has now dropped to a mid-spot and has had a hike of Rs.1000 over the previous bike. The 1.19 lakh mark for the FZS Dlx would not be everyone’s comfort zone. If you might know, Yamaha already has an FZ-based retro-scrambler on sale here, the FZ-X. Except for its design and panels, the FZ-X is more or less an FZ underneath, something which we had talked about in detail in our road test review.
