Cadillac CT4 And CT5 Could Soon Be Replaced

Five years ago, General Motors gave Cadillac the responsibility of leading its electrification strategy. Since then, the brand has introduced a series of sleek electric crossovers and one ultra-luxury sedan. Despite growing concerns about slowing EV adoption, Cadillac appears to be moving forward with its electric plans. According to a new report, the next-generation replacements for the CT4 and CT5 will not have internal combustion engines.

Cadillac to Replace CT4 and CT5 with EVs

The report, published by GM Authority, claims that Cadillac will introduce two new electric sedans instead of direct replacements for the CT4 and CT5. These new models are expected to be similar in size to the CT5 and the discontinued CT6, offering a more premium feel.

Sales for the CT4 and CT5 declined in 2024, while Cadillac’s electric Lyriq became the brand’s second best-selling model, trailing only the Escalade. Despite a slowing EV market, Cadillac still expects battery-powered vehicles to account for 30 to 35 per cent of its total sales in 2025, according to CNBC. The brand is also expanding its EV lineup with the launch of the Escalade IQ, Vistiq, and entry-level Optiq this year, adding to the existing Lyriq and Celestiq.

New Sedans to Use Advanced BEV Prime Platform

The upcoming electric sedans will reportedly be built on a more upscale version of GM’s BEV3 platform, known as BEV Prime. This architecture is expected to offer a lower seating position and a more dynamic driving experience. Design-wise, these models may take inspiration from the Escala concept and the Celestiq, possibly featuring a Sportback-style roofline.

While Cadillac has not officially confirmed these plans, the shift toward an all-electric sedan lineup signals the brand’s commitment to its EV transformation, even as market demand remains uncertain.
