No Stunts Demo, But The F-35 Will Still Fly
Many aviation enthusiasts were eagerly awaiting a full aerobatic performance from the F-35 Demo Team. However, Erin M. Wood, Deputy Chief of Civic Outreach & Community Relations, Air Combat Command Public Affairs, confirmed that the team will not participate this time. Despite this, visitors will still get to see the F-35 in action during flyby demonstrations, and a static display will allow for an up-close look at the aircraft’s cutting-edge design and technology.
This won’t be the F-35’s first appearance in India. The fighter jet made its debut at Aero India 2023, and its return highlights the growing defence ties between the U.S. and India.
Su-57 to Steal the Show with Aerial Stunts
While the F-35 won’t perform aerobatic stunts, the Russian Sukhoi Su-57 will make its debut in Indian skies with high-energy aerial manoeuvers. Known for its impressive agility, the Su-57 Felon is expected to captivate audiences with thrilling stunts.
India has a history with the Su-57, having signed a co-development deal with Russia in 2007. However, the partnership ended in 2018. The Su-57 was also recently showcased at Airshow China in Zhuhai, making its presence at Aero India 2025 even more exciting.
The Battle of Stealth: F-35 vs Su-57
Aero India 2025 will be a unique platform where both American and Russian stealth fighters will be on display. This is significant, especially considering the current geopolitical tensions between the West and Russia.
Fifth-generation fighters like the F-35 and Su-57 are at the forefront of modern aviation and warfare. They boast advanced features such as stealth capabilities, super-cruise speeds, and exceptional manoeuvrability. The F-35 is powered by a single engine, while the Su-57 has twin engines, each offering unique advantages in combat scenarios.
India’s Defense Choices: A Critical Decision Ahead?
The display of these fighter jets comes at a time when the Indian Air Force faces challenges with an ageing fleet. Additionally, there are concerns about neighbouring Pakistan potentially acquiring Chinese stealth fighters. These factors might influence India’s future decisions on whether to procure the F-35 or the Su-57.
Meanwhile, India is developing its own fifth-generation fighter jet- the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). However, this project has been progressing slowly.
Will Su-75 Checkmate Make a Surprise Appearance At Aero India?
Adding to the buzz, rumours suggest that a full-scale mockup of Russia’s Su-75 Checkmate, still in development, might be displayed at the event. An image showing the Checkmate model being prepared for transport from Moscow to Bengaluru has surfaced online, but this has not been officially confirmed.
