Citroen C3 will compete with the likes of Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet upon launch
Groupe PSA-owned French giant Citroen had made its Indian entry early this year with the C5 Aircross SUV, which interestingly had a highly ambitious price tag. The second product of Citroen is being readied for launch next year, and it is, as we had discussed previously a B segment SUV. Citroen has now revealed this product officially, giving out the key design details of it. Meet the Citroen C3…
The C3 is the first of the 3 Citroen cars (C-Cube lineup) slated for India-launch in the coming years. This product has been designed with two major markets in mind- India and South America. The C3 will be made in India, for India (and S America), by Indians! The manufacturer also has plans of exporting the C3 to some international markets, via CBU and CKD, a major one would be East Africa.

Citroen C3: What Is It?
The Citroen C3 is essentially a B segment hatchback, which has put on the cloaks of an SUV, so as to better appeal to the Indian affinity for these.
In terms of design, the C3 stays true to what had earlier been leaked online through images of C3 scale models from some dealerships. The car has multiple crossover cues gone into its design. The overall length stays a tad below the 4-meter mark (3.98 meters to be precise).
The key design highlights include SUV-ish ground clearance, high-set bonnet and driving seat, split LED headlamps (which could remind you of the C5 Aircross), double slat grille, blackened pillars, roof rails, and catchy LED DRLs. The C3 gets neat Black body cladding, to add to its overall crossover persona. The tailgate stands upright and tail lamps are rectangular. While the C3 is available with a rather attractive color palette, Citroen also assures that there will be extensive personalization opportunities as well.
Interior And Features
From the images, the C3 seems to have a catchy interior and oodles of features. The cabin gets prominent touches of Orange, and the overall finish seems quite adorable. There are multiple touches inside typical of Citroen. Key features inside include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, smartphone holder, personalization opportunities for the dash and seats, sporty three-spoke steering wheel, etc.
Platform, Engine And Transmissions
Citroen has built the C3 on the CMP modular platform. This architecture has high degrees (up to 90%) of localization gone into it and will soon be used in the upcoming sub-4 meter SUV from Jeep. Though Citroen India has not revealed the powertrain details yet, we expect the C3 to come with a 1.2L turbo petrol engine and apparently no diesel. A 5-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic units are expected as transmissions.
Expected Prices
Pricing could be the ‘make or break’ factor of the C3. The manufacturer has refused to comment on the same for the time being, and shut all queries with a diplomatic sentence “The C3 prices will be competitive and attractive”. We will have to wait till the car’s launch in H1, 2022 for the actual prices and the car’s fate as such. Key competition would be the other B players like Nissan Magnite/Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue/ Kia Sonet , Tata Nexon etc.
