Kia EV9 Is Now World Car of the Year 2024!

Double win for Kia EV9!

KIA EV9 has bagged the title of ‘World Car of the Year (WCOTY) 2024’, beating BYD Seal and Volvo EX30 hands down. 38 automotive models were evaluated by more than 100 automotive journalists from 29 different countries, and Kia’s new-age electric SUV took home the revered title.

The top 10 finalists had three all-electric vehicles, and the EV9 finally triumphed. Adding to the excitement, it also won the title of ‘World Electric Vehicle’. These are the fourth and fifth wins for Kia at WCOTY, since 2020.

The EV9 is the first Kia to use fourth-generation battery technology and is based on the E-GMP platform. Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 are also underpinned by E-GMP. The EV9 gets an innovative, good-looking design and roomy cabin. The EV9 is also Kia’s first seven-seater electric SUV.

Kia seems to have plans to launch the EV9 in India. The electric SUV was previously showcased at Auto Expo 2023. We might get to see the India launch in the time ahead.
