LP 780-4 Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae Is The Final Hurrah To Pure-Combustion V12s

Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae gets offered in coupe and roadster forms

After teasing us with a couple of images recently, Automobili Lamborghini has now taken wraps off the LP 780-4 Aventador Ultimae, as the final edition of the V12 supercar. (The previous rumors suggesting the carmaker might name the final Aventador ‘SJ’ have now been proven wrong with the new nomenclature) The LP 780-4 will also stand special for being the last Lamborghini to have a pure-combustion V12, as the upcoming Aventador replacement will have a hybrid powertrain, as revealed previously by the manufacturer. The Aventador Ultimae will launch officially at Goodwood Festival, scheduled from September 8-12, this year.

The Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae comes in both as a coupe and a roadster. Just 350 coupes and 250 roadsters will ever be made. The car would, however, not be available in markets like Mainland China, South Korea, Vietnam, Brazil, and Chile. This could also mean the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based manufacturer could bring the Aventador Ultimae to India as well! Lamborghini already has the limited-run Aventador SVJ on sale here.

Design

The overall design of the LP 780-4 Ultimae stays close to the signature Aventador shape. It borrows a few key design cues from the Aventador S and SVJ. There are a number of body parts that have been streamlined for complementing performance. The key design deviations from the previous Aventador are the refreshed body lines, reworked front splitter and fresh-looking rear fins.

The silhouette is clean and uncluttered. The body lines now look cleaner and more appealing. The new Aventador rides on 20 inch and 21 inch Silver Dianthus wheels as standard, while 20 and 21 inchers from Dianthus, Leiron, and Nireo can also be opted for, in Bronze, Black, and Titanium shades. These are shod with Pirelli PZero Corsa rubber.

There are 18 colors on offer for the final Aventador. Plus, you also get to further customize the car through the Lamborghini Ad Personam program.

Interior

The Aventador Ultimae’s cabin looks and feels sporty and enthusing. The revealed images show the car’s cabin finished in Grigio Acheso and Grigio Teca dual-tone theme, with generous use of Black leather and Alcantara. The seats get Y-shaped Alcantara inserts, the dash has an optional laser-cut Y repeat motif, neatly incorporated numbered plaque (such as 001/350) indicating the exclusivity. There are also things like a modern-day infotainment system and a large TFT digital dashboard display. The roadster can be had with an exposed Carbon Fiber roof panel as well.

Powertrain And Performance

As already mentioned, the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae celebrates the final pure-combustion naturally aspirated V12 from Lamborghini, and thus marks the end of an era. It gets a 6.5L, 12 cylinder longitudinally mounted (‘Longitudinale Posteriore’ in Lamborghini lingo) engine that produces 780 hp (a good 10 hp more than the erstwhile range-topping SVJ) and 720 Nm. The 7-speed single clutch automated manual transmission is now tuned for more aggressive shifts. The entire punch of the powertrain is channeled to all the four wheels.

0-100 kph comes in 2.8 seconds, 0-200 kph in 8.7 seconds, and the top speed stands at 335 kph. The rigid-yet-lightweight Carbon Fiber monocoque chassis does a great deal in ensuring this jaw-dropping performance, by providing a significant power-to-weight advantage. The car weighs just 1550 kilograms. The performance-spec brakes ensure a 100-0 kph braking distance of 30 meters.

The Aventador Ultimae gets all-wheel steering, Lamborghini Dynamic Steering, active aero rear wings and multiple drive modes- Strada, Sport, Corsa and a fully customizable EGO mode.
