2018 Lamborghini Urus Off Road Test, The Italian Super SUV Goes For A Mud-Bath!

The Italian supercar maker’s legendary test driver Valentino Balboni kills it with the SUV in the marsh run!

The Lamborghini Urus is apparently the world’s only ‘Super-SUV’, a title that might sound a bit too strange for many, owing to its solitary existence. Just for those, let me tell you that the ‘Super-SUV’ part essentially signifies an SUV that performs and handles like a supercar. The Urus is a supercar with a raised stance, as many might put it! It is a 650 PS monster that can hit 62 mph from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds and with a top speed of 190 mph, however sans the aggressive growl of the Huracan or the Aventador!

Being a super-SUV however doesn’t end merely with a beastly 0-60 run, the ‘SUV’ tag demands the Urus to perform well off the roads as well. Men at DailyDrivenExotics on YouTube must have been in an effort to assess this ability of the Urus when they invited Valentino Balboni, one of the Italian carmaker’s favourite test drivers over to take the SUV for a mud-play!.

Balboni is currently pursuing his retirement life, after around 40 years of service in Lamborghini. He had been so dear and loyal to the supercar maker during his days there that Lamborghini finally honored him in 2009 with a special edition Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni.

The 69 year old Balboni can be seen in the video, rejoicing at the prance of 650 untamed horses at his toes, hurling shards of mud all around.

The Urus is evidently no match for a G Wagen or a Land Rover Defender when it comes to tackling rough trails, but it can definitely handle light offroad adventures with added poise. Marshes are indeed no threat for this Italian masterpiece, thanks to its Terra drive mode and the mammoth 21 inchers.

Given the fact that the Urus can take mild terrains pretty well, the question now is, who would actually dare to take this $200,000 SUV off the roads?!

Ever wondered what the Lamborghini sales were like in 2018? Find out here!

In case you haven’t heard it yet, Lamborghini Motorsport Division, Squadra Corse had recently been heard readying an even beastlier version of the Urus, built to tackle the track and terrain alike with added ease. The ST-X concept, as it is called, would, as per the reports, spearhead a single brand championship in 2020 where the race course would be a mix of track and terrain. Erm, just saying that the meanest is yet to come …
