The latest spy shots show triangular mirrors on the Cybertruck
A prototype of Tesla’s Cybertruck was recently spotted testing on roads near the company’s HQ in Palo Alto. The vehicle appears to be part of the ongoing beta programme, which is expected to last until the summer of 2023. Tesla may begin commercial production around the same time.
Flavio Tronzano, an Instagram user, took this photo of the test vehicle and posted it online. Although it is unclear which variant of the truck this is, it appears to be one of the more recent prototypes.
The Cybertruck, here, is spotted for the first time with triangular side mirrors, which better match the vehicle’s design than the more radical ones seen on previous prototypes. Tesla initially had plans of selling the EV with rear-view cameras instead of side mirrors. However, the current US laws do not permit this, hence the triangular mirrors!
The prototypes’ operational rear tonneau cover and side windows are the other first spots. Although these aren’t particularly noteworthy, they hint at the progress being made at the development end.
According to Tesla’s Chief Designer, Franz von Holzhausen, the Cybertruck is design-ready. Bossman Elon Musk recently tweeted that he has reviewed the production beta prototype and that it’s “incredible”. So far, there have been few sightings of operational Cybertruck prototypes on the road, this could change soon as more beta vehicles roll out.
