Mahindra Thar posts epic sales numbers in 2021
Mahindra & Mahindra posted sales of more than 32,000 units of the Mahindra Thar in 2021, translating to a 561% Year-on-Year growth. 32,139 units of the new Thar were sold in 2021, against 4,865 units mark in 2020. Mahindra has also recorded over 70,000 bookings for the SUV.
The manufacturer had launched the all-new Thar in 2020, to take advantage of the growing SUV market in India, and it seems like the bet has paid off for the Anand Mahindra-owned brand. Leading the segment with matured road manners and unbeatable off-road capabilities Mahindra Thar is in high acceptance among the adventure-loving Millenials.
Mahindra recently launched a Bollywood-style campaign film for the all-new Thar to celebrate the SUV’s market reign. However, owning a Mahindra Thar soon wouldn’t be easy as the waiting period for the model is soaring across the nation, mainly due to the global semiconductor shortage.
Under the hood, Mahindra Thar is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder mStallion 150 TGDi petrol and a 2.2-liter four-cylinder mHawk 130 diesel engine. The petrol mill can produce 150 BHP and up to 320 Nm (with AT), while the diesel version can generate 130 BHP and 300 Nm. The SUV, available in six shades and with automatic and manual transmissions, is priced in Rs. 13.17- Rs. 15.53 lakh range.
