Mercedes Benz India Gets Martin Schwenk As The New Managing Director And CEO!

 Roland Folger will now on, be the Managing Director, Sales & Marketing for MBC Hub SEA1 and the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Thailand


India’s largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz, gets Martin Schwenk as the new boss-man. Currently the Chief Financial Officer of Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service Co. Ltd. in China, Schwenk would soon assume power as the the new Managing Director and CEO of its India operations with effect from 1st November, 2018. Roland Folger, the carmaker’s current CEO for India would then assume a new new position for Mercedes-Benz’s Thailand & Vietnam markets.

With Folger heading the team, Mercedes Benz India had had significant growth rates over the past three years. It should also be mentioned here that the German giant had managed to achieve the highest market share in the luxury car segment during this period. Folger played a key role in formulating the brand’s growth strategy, that includes introductions of key products like the launch of the Long Wheel Base version of the E Class, qualitative expansion of the network footprint, and also the creation of the Vehicle Preparation Centre.

Besides these , the year 2017 had seen Mercedes Benz India achieve an important milestone by crossing the 15,000 annual sales number. Folger has also been of key role in initiating an array of positive cultural changes within Mercedes-Benz India and successfully driving Daimler AG’s Expedition 2020 initiative.

An Engineering graduate, Mr. Schwenk had started his career at Daimler back in 1992, when he got selected through the Mercedes-Benz Trainee Program.The later phases of his career saw him assume various important positions in Finance and Controlling in several locations, including Germany, South Africa, Austria and the United States.

In September 2015, Martin joined the Mercedes-Benz Sales Organization in China as the Chief Financial Officer, and later on, did wonders in the Chinese market with his diligent business strategies.
