MG6 XPOWER Unveiled, A Totally Appealing Package!

The MG6 XPower is essentially the production version of the MG XPower concept showcased earlier.

Morris Garages has unveiled the MG6 XPower sportscar globally, hinting at the brand’s performance future. The car is essentially the production version of the previous MG XPOWER concept and evidently embodies the brand’s 100-year racing DNA. It is the second generation of the MG6 compact sedan that this XPOWER model gets built on. Oh, the last time we had seen the XPOWER badge on something was on the XPower SV sports car of the 2003s.

Design:

The overall design stays close to that of the MG6 sedan. However, the car has a lowered stance with a number of performance aids installed on it. It has an ultra-wide body design with sleek character lines, blackened tail lamps with evident ‘X’ shaped elements inside, and a sporty rear spoiler.

Cabin And Features:

To place it on the sportier side and fill an air of racing genes inside, Morris Garages has given contrast stitching inside the MG6 Xpower’s cabin. The three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara and the inner panels get finishes of high-end suede material. You can also find the X power logos at multiple places, like the sport seats, side skirts, center armrest, door sill and the like. Each unit of the MG6 Xpower even comes with a unique limited edition number for added exclusivity.

Engine And Performance:

The MG6 XPower gets a hybrid powertrain in which a 1.5T Trophy in-line turbocharged engine works in harmony with a plug-in hybrid system to churn out 305PS and 480Nm! 0-100 comes in under 6 seconds and the chassis and suspension have been calibrated to give the maximum possible handling. The transmission on offer is a 10-speed EDU second-generation electric drive unit that provides seamless and enjoyable transfer of power and better driving performance with faster shift responses.

The car gets racing-grade 920E, 6 piston fixed caliper disc brakes which have been specially calibrated for the XPower family. The MG6 Xpower gets Michelin Pilot Sport CUP2 high-performance rubber, imported from France. The XPower car is hoped to offer a significant improvement in performance and dynamics over the regular car. It rides lower, offers more resistance to roll, and is faster as well.

This is not the first time in recent years that we see the SAIC-owned British brand showcasing its performance range. Remember the MG Cyberster?
