This could be a possible successor to the outgoing Carnival!
South Korean manufacturer Kia has stolen the show with its enthralling arsenal of vehicles on display. The brand is hoped to showcase the futuristic EV9 Concept, facelifted Seltos, the new fourth-generation Sorento 7-seater SUV, the performance-oriented EV6 GT Line, a new Concept EV and the existing products this year. While some of these are yet to break veils, the Kia KA4 aka global Carnival is on display at the Kia pavilion.
Kia introduced the third-generation Carnival in the Indian market in February 2020. It was an instant success with over 9500 units sold so far. So, Kia probably thought of the Auto Expo as an opportunity to showcase the 4th generation, or the KA4 as it’s often called, and measure customer interests. Though there are no plans for it yet, Kia could possibly launch this in India sometime in the future.
The fourth-generation Carnival, had made its global debut in June 2020. It’s underpinned by the Hyundai-Kia N3 platform, which was developed for the front-wheel drive-based mid-size vehicles since 2019. While the existing Carnival adopts proper MPV styling, the refreshed model leans more towards SUV attire.
The fourth-generation Carnival is 40mm longer, 10mm wider, and the wheelbase has been stretched by 30mm compared to the third-generation model. The height remains nearly unchanged.

It gets the signature ‘tiger nose’ grille with a diamond pattern, slim headlights with A-shaped DRLs, faux skid plate, reduced front overhang, a-pillars get pushed back to accommodate a longer bonnet, pronounced character line, L-shaped chrome fin for the C-pillars, and new LED taillamps. The A-, B-, and D-pillars come in Gloss Black, which creates something called the ‘Island Roof’ by Kia.
The interior looks state-of-the-art and has a minimalistic design. It features twin 12.3-inch touchscreens-one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment display, powered front row seats, 3-zone climate control, wireless charger, premium audio system, new 3-spoke steering wheel, piano black and chrome trim, etc. The Carnival is not short on safety features as it gets lane departure warning, forward collision assist, front seat belt pre-tensioners, advanced airbags, parking distance warning, rear occupant alert, lane keeping assist, and more.
The KA4 is offered in 7-, 9-, and 11-seat configurations in overseas markets. Kia has extended the wheelbase and rear overhang, which means the rear passengers have more space to stretch their legs and experience a relaxing ride. Perfect for family trips!
The KA4 is available with two powertrain options in the global market – a 2.2-Litre Diesel and a 3.5-Litre Petrol engine. The 2.2L Smartstream D2.2 CRDi VGT Inline-4 Diesel engine is good for 202HP and 440Nm, while the 3.5L Smartstream G3.5 GDi V6 Petrol engine churns out 296HP and 355Nm. India might only get the Diesel engine, which is also found in the India-spec 3rd generation model.

Kia KA4 could lock horns with the recently-unveiled Toyota Innova Hycross, but with a higher rank in terms of size and space offered. Talking about pricing, the third-generation Carnival ranges from ₹30.99 Lakhs to ₹35.49 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom). The new could be speculated to start in the ballpark of ₹30 Lakhs and scale up to ₹40 Lakhs for higher variants, should it actually make it to a market entry.
