Ola S1 Electric Scooter Launched At Rs 96,999

The Ola scooter will have two variants on offer – Ola S1 and S1 Pro

Putting an end to massive waves of anticipation, Ola Electric has launched its first electric scooter in India, the Ola S1. The electric scooter is available in two variants- Ola S1 and S1 Pro, priced from Rs 99,999 for the base-spec S1. The beefier S1 Pro bears a price of 1.21 lakh. However, the price sees drastic changes in states with hefty EV subsidies, Gujarat to cite an instance, where the S1 is priced at Rs 79,999 and S1 Pro at 1.09 lakh, ex-sh!. Ola Electric will manufacture the S1 and S1 Pro at the Ola Futurefactory, and hopes to start the deliveries by October.

Highlights

Based on the Etergo Appscooter, the Ola S1 gets an identical design as well. It looks neo-retro and gets a number of notable highlights like stylish LED lighting, 12-inch alloy wheels, and an exciting colour palette. The scooter also offers the best-in-class under-seat storage of 36 liters, which can comfortably accommodate two open-face helmets.

Ola scooter also gets the homegrown MoveOS, which renders multiple selectable soundtracks to the scooter. At launch, there are 4 different sounds on offer- Bolt, Care, Vintage, and Wonder. It also comes with a large 7-inch, Octacore-powered touchscreen-based infotainment system, reverse gear, navigation, voice assistance, support for OTA updates, app-based connectivity, cruise control, hill hold, and more.

Ola S1 will offer a total range of 121km every full charge and a top speed of 90 kph. The top-spec S1 Pro has beefier mechanicals which could give a range of 181 km and top speeds of 115 kph.

Ola S1 gets a 2.98 kWh battery pack while the S1 Pro gets a larger 3.97 kWh unit. Both the scooters get the same 8.5 kW mid-drive IPM electric motor. The electric powertrain has distinctly different performances on the two variants. While the power and torque figures remain the same at 8.5 kW and 58 Nm on both, the actual acceleration is much faster on the S1 Pro. While the S1 gets just two drive modes- Normal and Sports, the S1 Pro has an additional ‘Hyper’ that lets you extract the max juice from the electric powerhouse.

Ola S1 takes 3.6 seconds for the 0-40 kph acceleration and 0-60 comes in 7 seconds, while the S1 Pro feels much quicker as it does the same in 3.0 seconds and 5 seconds respectively.
