Royal Enfield Domestic Sales Plunge While Exports Uptick In November 2021

Royal Enfield witnesses a mixed performance in November ’21

Hit with the global semiconductor shortage, India’s Royal Enfield saw a 24% dip in its year-on-year sales for November. The Chennai-based manufacturer’s domestic sales plunged to 44,830 units in November 2021, against 59,084 in the same time last year.

RE, however, sold 4,219 more units in November 2021 than the previous month. The exports also clocked an uptrend, with a year-on-year increase of 45.25%; 6,824 units were exported this November against the 4,698 units mark of November 2020.

In October last year, Royal Enfield was forced to delay the launch of its much-hyped Meteor 350 due to supply chain issues and Covid-19 restrictions. The same supply restrictions seem to be the core cause behind the down trend in domestic sales this time. The recently launched Classic 350 continues to be in great demand, even with fair delays in deliveries.

Royal Enfield is betting big on the upcoming models, including the 650cc Cruiser named Super Meteor that’d up the game from its 350cc counterpart, Royal Enfield Scram 411- a scrambler based on the Himalayan, 650 cc Royal Enfield Shotgun, and the RE Hunter 350. All these are expected to hit the market in the time ahead.
