‘Tata Altroz’ Is How The Baleno Rival From Tata Motors Would Be Called!

Tata Altroz would apparently be the perfect match for the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20…

So this is where it had all started. Tata motors had had a compact urban concept, codenamed as 45X, displayed alongside the much applauded H5X concept SUV in their pavilion at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The sleek and stylish looking concept had then amassed as many, if not more admirers then, as its SUV sibling.

From what we have heard so far, the 45X , apparently a mass market urban hatchback, would come equipped with all essential bits to be the perfect Baleno rival from Tata. Needless to say, the Hyundai i20 would also see a face-on combat. The car would be built on the new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture and would flaunt thoroughly alluring aesthetics, both on the inside and out.

The big news now, however, is that Tata Motors has officially named this concept’s production guise Altroz’, as it moves close to the production line. The production version or the ‘ALTROZ’ would officially be unveiled at the Geneva motor show this year. (We have already come across test-mules being tested  though) The name draws inspiration from the magnificent bird Albatross, which has evidently been a not so small inspiration for the designers while sketching this car up. Tata also claims the car to outshine the rest with state of the art agility, speed, space, and efficiency in its segment, just like the Albatross does over the seas.

Announcing the name of this much-anticipated vehicle, Mr. Mayank Pareek – President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said – “We are extremely elated to  nnounce the name of our upcoming model, which will redefine the premium hatchback segment for the industry. With superlative design elements and a versatile architecture, the Tata ALTROZ is the perfect amalgamation of futuristic design, advanced  echnology, class leading connectivity, thrilling performance and smart packaging. We are excited to introduce this product to our customers and are gearing up for its commercial launch in mid – 2019. With Turnaround 2.0 now in full swing, we aim to continue winning sustainably in the PV segment through such timely product interventions”.

The aforementioned ALFA architecture underpinning the Tata Altroz has its lightweight, modular and flexible characteristics making it stand out from the crowd and can also be transformed into a range of modern and youthful vehicles within a short development cycle. Thus, one could expect more models based on this architecture soon.

The Altroz is also built under the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. The IMPACT 2.0 design language has been amassing stellar respect and massive applause ever since it debuted on the Tata Harrier recently. The carmaker hopes to reinvent the urban car design with greater emphasis on class-leading connectivity and everyday mobility.
