Tata Nexon becomes India’s first and only car to grab a 5 star adult safety rating from Global NCAP!
Before I start telling you more , let me make my confession of being the least surprised by this news. I mean, I had had my dose of pride-coated bewilderment recently when I happened to stumble upon a news-piece showing the Tata Nexon scoring a 4 star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, and this , seems more of good things getting better, to me !
Three months past and yet another global NCAP crash test done, we now see the Nexon score a phenomenal 5 star adult safety rating, with a best of the lot adult occupant safety score of 16.06 /17.00.
Yes, the Tata Nexon is the first and only car in India to achieve the much sought after 5 stars adult safety rating from Global NCAP.
The Global NCAP crash test proved to be an extensive test for the car’s structural integrity and overall safety, as here, the Nexon was tested for both front and side impacts. Despite hitting a full 5 star rating in this combined evaluation, Tata Nexon also scored an impressive star rating for Child occupant safety.
The Nexon has been fully designed, engineered and made in India. Thus this achievement puts the country on the global map and flaunts itself as the precursor to the carmaker’s active role in advancing vehicle safety technologies. Yes, the future Tatas would all boast of state of the art safety standards.

It won’t be the best instance of effective time management to talk of the safety features of a car that has a 5 star global NCAP rating. Still, for those few who are still ignorant yet curious of the same, here is a quick walk through through the list:
The Energy-absorbing body structure with high-strength steel construction and critical reinforcements, starts the run, later joined by dual front airbags and pre tensioner equipped seat belts, load limiter and Crash Locking Tongue (CLT for driver occupant) that provide for supreme driver- co driver safety . The driver foot well area has pedal blockers that prevent feet injuries in the event of a crash. Later in the list are other safety techs like ABS, EBD, corner stability control (standard across the range), child-safety door locks, Voice-based alerts, rear parking assistance, ISOFIX anchorage, front co passenger seat belt reminder and Front fog lamps with cornering assistance.
