The Creta rival from Toyota and Suzuki will only be available with petrol engines
We have seen them Baleno and Glanza, we have seen them Vitara Brezza and Urban Cruiser, We have seen the Maruti-Toyota alliance doing very well in the market. And now the Japanese manufacturers is pushing their limits, both to jointly develop Creta/Seltos rival by 2022. The mid-size SUV will be manufactured at Toyota’s facilities in Karnataka.
The SUV will be built on Toyota’s DNGA platform and will be 4.3m long. Albeit both Maruti’s and Toyota’s versions being structurally similar, both will have distinctive styling features in accordance with each brand’s design quo.
The upcoming mid-size SUV will be offered mainly with Suzuki’s 1.5L petrol motor, which we have seen in the Brezza. There are rumors of a more powerful Turbo petrol coming as well. Though a diesel engine is not likely to be offered.
The jointly developed SUV will help both brands to plant a strong foot in the flourishing Mid-size SUV segment. Adding to that, the joint development will help keep the costs low which indeed is of added advantage for both Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, to take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
