Toyota Camry Hybrid gets more equipment with the facelift
Toyota has launched in India the Camry Hybrid facelift with a price tag of Rs. 41.70 lakh, ex-sh. Available in a single, fully-packed variant, the Camry’s prices have gone up by Rs 50k, with the update. The changes on the facelifted car are a few minor cosmetic tweaks and equipment additions.
Toyota Camry Hybrid facelift: What’s New?
Toyota had launched the eighth-generation Camry in India, in 2019. In 2020 however, the car got a mid-life update globally, which has now been brought to the Indian shores. The changes on the updated Camry include minor cosmetic upgrades and major feature-list revamps. 2022 Camry hybrid gets a sleeker grille which is evidently better looking than the one on the previous car, revamped front bumper with larger air intakes, and tasteful Chrome embellishments. It also gets a set of new 18 inch alloys and darkened tail lamps.
The color palette also witnesses the addition of a new shade- Metal Stream Metallic, with the update, taking the total colorway count to 7.
Toyota Camry Interior
The cabin aesthetics have been overhauled on the new Camry Hybrid. While the overall design and layout see no major deviation, the trims and textures used have been significantly improved. One nice touch would be the new black engineered wood effect film adorning the instrument panel. Also to be noted is the repositioning of the air-con vents, which now sit below the floating infotainment system, calling for significant visual improvements.
2022 Camry Hybrid gets a new 9.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, instead of the older car’s 8-inch unit. It supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and comes with significantly improved software and tidier interface. Paired to this is a 9 speaker premium audio system by JBL.
Other features include three-zone climate control, a sunroof, power-reclining rear seats, power-assisted rear sunshades, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat with a memory function, wireless charging pad, reverse camera, head-up display, powered steering adjustments with memory function, among others.
Engine And Specifications
Toyota Camry is based on the new-gen TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. It has got a 178HP, 2.5-liter petrol engine mated to a 120HP motor-generator unit, delivering a combined output of 218 hp. The transmission is a CVT unit with paddle-shifters. The car offers impressive fuel efficiency figures of 23.27 kmpl.
Toyota offers all major safety equipment on the new Camry, like 9 airbags, Parking Assist with Back Guide Monitor, Clearance & Back Sonar, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist Control, Electronic Parking Brake with Brake Hold Function, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
The key competition would be from the Skoda Superb, which is currently priced in the Rs 32-35 lakh range, ex-showroom.
