Toyota Extends Battery Warranty On Its Hybrids

The battery extension would increase the demand and sales of Toyota hybrid vehicles

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced the extension of warranties on its range of self-charging hybrid electric vehicles (SHEVs). The Toyota SHEV lineup consists of two models- Camry and Vellfire. These vehicles currently come with a 3 year/100,000 kilometers warranty for their batteries. These would now be extended to 8 years/ 160,000 kilometers. The extension will apply to all SHEVs sold from August 1, 2021.

With the revision, Toyota’s hybrid powertrain battery warranty would be the longest/ most comprehensive in the business. Hybrids have been nothing new for Toyota. TKM was the first carmaker to introduce hybrid powertrains in India, through the Prius. Currently, the Camry and Vellfire constitute the present hybrid lineup. The Vellfire has been witnessing decent traction recently, despite its hefty price tag.
