TVS Motor Company has launched its electric scooter TVS iQube in Kerala, priced at Rs 1,23,917 (on road, Kochi) The scooter will be retailed through select TVS outlets in Kochi and might expand to other parts of the state later. The EV space in Kerala is witnessing commendable traction. Ather Energy currently has a couple of outlets running here, amassing decent sales. TVS is apparently eyeing its place in Kerala’s urban mobility space with the iQube.

This TVS electric scooter was originally launched in early 2020, priced at Rs 1.5 lakh, and targetted mainly at the EV buyers in Bangalore. It was later introduced to many other cities taking into consideration the demands from the urban dwellers there. The recent in the line were Delhi, Chennai, and Pune. Similar to what they had done in the other Indian cities, TVS is putting in decent efforts to develop the EV ecosystem in Kochi as well.

TVS iQube Electric Scooter: What’s It?

TVS iQube is pitched as a worthy competitor to the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter and Ather 450X. It looks modern and comes with good-looking White paint. The minimalistic design gets attractive bits like LED headlamps, all-LED tail lamps, and an illuminated logo imparting a greater sense of ‘being an EV’.

The urban commuter also gets the TVS SmartXonnect system and a TFT instrument cluster, with integrated support for the TVS iQube app. The rider gets access to a host of information like Geo-fencing, remote battery charge status, navigation, last park location, and call/SMS alerts.

Specifications

TVS iQube gets a 4.4kW BLDC electric motor offering supreme performance and high efficiency. We are not sure of the exact specifications of the battery or the power figures as such, the torque however is a good 140Nm. The manufacturer tells us that the top speed of iQube electric is around 78kph and the range is a good 75 kilometers per charge. 0-40kph is claimed to be achieved in 4.2 seconds. These considered the iQube seems to be quite a decent package for an electric scooter. It also gets regenerative braking, Q Park Assist, and multiple ride modes.

The key rivals to the iQube will be Ather 450 Plus, 450 X, the upcoming Ola scooter, and Bajaj Chetak electric if at all the last two are to make Kerala debuts.
