VW Taigun: What Is It?
The Taigun is the first VW product of VW Group’s 1 billion Euros project- India 2.0. It has very high degrees of localization gone into it and is in multiple ways, a make-or-break product for the brand here. Needless to say, the Taigun is a close cousin to the Skoda Kushaq, sharing the same mechanicals.
Volkswagen Taigun is underpinned by the VW MQB A0 IN platform, developed specifically for India. This chassis has high degrees (up to 95%) of localization gone into it and also forms the base of the Kushaq as well. Much like its Skoda cousin, the Taigun also has a 1.0L TSI and 1.5 TSI as its powertrains, mated to the familiar 6MT, 6AT, and 7DSG transmissions.
