New Car launch
2024 Kia Sonet facelift has just gone on sale in India, priced from Rs 7.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Here are some interesting facts about it.
For 2024, the Sonet gets minor design tweaks, more equipment and an ADAS suite.
The SUV continues to be sold with 3 different engines- petrol, diesel and turbo-petrol, in 19 variants. The next slide will give you details of the facelifted Sonet's variant-wise prices in India.
Kia Sonet 2024 gets just minor cosmetic changes. It now comes with good-looking LED headlamps with new DRLs, slightly reworked tail lamps connected by LED light bar, new bumpers and a spoiler.
There is now the 10.25 inch central touchscreen Infotainment that's also seen on the new Kia Seltos, as well as the global Nexo. The new SUV also features a better-looking climate control control panel, selectable drive modes, and traction control.
Slight improvements can be found in the seat design and upholstery.
Other major equipment offered on higher variants include 360-degree camera, cooled front seats, leatherette upholstery, a Bose audio system, sunroof etc.
The most notable feature of the new Sonet is the addition of ADAS features. These are already available on the Hyundai Venue. Other safety features on the Kia include 6 airbags, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESC etc
Kia Sonet retains the same engine and powertrain options as before. The good news, however, is that the diesel-manual is making a comeback!
The 1.2L NA petrol engine produces 83 hp and can be had with a 5 MT gearbox. The 1.0 L three cylinder turbo petrol engine can churn out 120 hp and comes mated to a 6MT or 7DCT.
Kia Sonet diesel is still a sweet deal, with the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine producing 116hp and offered with a 6MT, 6 iMT and 6AT boxes. This is in fact, a very frugal engine!
The Sonet facelift should be able to find its way up the ladder, in the crowded compact SUV space. It will have to battle the likes of the new Nexon, Venue, Brezza, Magnite, Kiger and XUV300.
Deliveries will begin by mid-January, 2024...
