Xiaomi SU7 EV has racked up nearly 50,000 pre-orders in 30 minutes, showing sky-high customer interest. 88,898 SU7 EVs were ordered in 24 hours!

SU7 is the first ever electric car from the gadget giant Xiaomi.

Starting at $30,000, Xiaomi SU7 EV offers an affordable option for going electric, and slots itself in as the most viable Tesla Model 3 rival.

The electric sedan claims to deliver a maximum range of upto 800 km (500 miles) and comes in both single-motor and dual motor configurations.

The top-spec SU 7 Max can do 0-100 kph in just 2.67 seconds and speeds of upto 265 kph

The limited-run SU7 Founder's edition does 0-100 kph in a breathtaking 1.98 seconds, courtesy of its aggressive dual-motor setup.

Xiaomi has packed this electric car with tech, features and connected experiences.

The smartphone giant's AI research might lead to advanced autonomous driving tech in future iterations of the SU7 EV.

Expect to wait!  Deliveries could take 18-30 weeks depending on the variant chosen. The standard variant has waiting spans of 18-21 weeks while the Pro variant commands 27 to 30 weeks in waiting.

The SU7 EV's epic success could force Tesla to rework its strategies in China.
