BMW S1000R Unveiled, Is A S1000 RR Sans The Fairing!

The naked super sport S1000R based on the maker’s flagship S1000RR is here!

BMW Motorrad has unveiled its naked supersport- the 2021 BMW S1000R. Think of the S1000R as a S1000RR that has shed the fairing and has the engine retuned.

The 2021 S1000R features a redesigned headlamp, tank, radiator shrouds, and belly pan which constitute the bike’s edged look. The rear is completely identical to the full faired S1000RR as expected. S1000R comes equipped with a 6.5 inch TFT display, three riding modes, cornering ABS, engine brake control, and traction control to count in electronic aids.

The engine on the bike is the same as the one we have seen in S1000RR albeit in a different state of tune, putting out 165hp at 11000 rpm and 115Nm at 9250rpm, the numbers are pretty impressive. The compression ratio increased from 12 to 12.5:1 coupled with new cam grindings, BMW says torque curve is now flatter and available at as low as 3000rpm.

A 120/70-17 and a 190/55-17 tires do the job at the front and back respectively in hand with Aluminium wheels. Front suspension is handled by a 45mm USD-fork and a link actuated monoshock does the job at the rear. The S1000R comes equipped with twin-310mm rotors at the front going with four-piston radial-mount calipers, while the rear gets a 220mm single rotor with single-piston floating calipers.

The price details haven’t been announced yet, even in the international markets, we guess BMW will price the S1000R very competitively.
