The all new Audi A4 will spearhead the carmaker’s 2021 model lineup for India
Audi is prepping to launch a series of India-spec models in 2021. The all-new guise of the Audi A4 sedan will be the first one to come from this line of cars. The carmaker has now confirmed that it has started the car’s production at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) manufacturing facility in Aurangabad, and has also shared pictures of the first car rolling off the production line.
The Audi A4 has always been a hot-selling model for the carmaker here and had had its previous significant update back in 2016. The new A4 would come in further upping the appeal of this sedan and making it more up-to-date in terms of design and equipment. The 2021 car is known to feature a bunch of comprehensive changes both on the outside and inside the cabin.
The 2021 Audi A4, as evident from the images, has a highly revised exterior design. It features revised bumpers up front and at the rear, a grille that is now significantly wider, redrawn headlamps, more pronounced body lines, a new set of wheels, redesigned taillamps etc.
There would be a bunch of noteworthy changes on the inside as well. The new A4 would have a slightly redrawn cabin layout and much more equipment on offer than before. The design features neatly designed air vents that run all along the width of the cabin, and more importantly a thoroughly revamped infotainment unit. Featuring a new 10.1 inch touchscreen hosting Audi’s new MMI touch software, this unit is hoped to grab much praise from user. There is, however, no second touchscreen like what we had previously seen on models like the A6, A8 and the Q8. The Virtual Cockpit from Audi would also mark its presense in the new car as well.
The new A4 will be powered by a new 2.0L turbo petrol engine letting out as much as 190hp and will come mated to a 7 speed DSG. The car will have a front wheel drive layout and there would be no Quattro AWD on offer. What is a bit disappointing though, is the fact that Audi has no plans of bringing in the much adored 35 TDI diesel engine anytime soon, as going petrol only is what VW Group has in plans here.
With its prices starting at INR 40 (-ish) lakh, and topping out at around 50, the Audi A4 will lock horns with the likes of Mercedes Benz C Class and BMW 3 series.
After remaining silent for about an year, Audi India had launched a couple of exciting models like the Q8, RS Q8 and the puny Q2, recently. The upcoming 2021 product lineup will further strengthen the German marque’s market presence here.
