2021 Audi Q5 Launched In India From Rs 58.93 Lakh

The new Audi Q5 comes just with a 2.0 L petrol engine

Audi India today launched the all-new Q5 SUV in the country. The Q5 facelift is available in two variants- Premium Plus and Technology, priced at Rs 58.93 lakh and 63.77 lakh, ex-showroom respectively. The new SUV ditches the diesel engine and is now a petrol-only model, in keeping with Volkswagen Group’s petrol-only vision for India. Bookings for the facelifted Q5 are now open and the manufacturer had begun the local production in October.

What’s New?

The new Q5 gets a neat, stylish design. It looks fresh with the new wider hexagonal grille, revised LED headlamps, new bumpers, larger 19-inch alloy wheels, etc. There are a total of 5 color options on offer on the new Q5- Navarra Blue, Mythos Black, Floret Silver, Manhattan Gray, and Ibis White.

The cabin also sees major reworks on the facelifted Q5. It is now finished in Atlas Beige and Okapi Brown shades and gets top-quality leather upholstery. The inlays now come finished in Piano Black and there is much more equipment on offer, than the pre-facelift model. 2021 Audi Q5 gets Audi Park Assist, Audi’s Virtual cockpit Plus, 19-speaker, 755 Watt B&O premium 3D audio system, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech and Alexa integration, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, 30-colour ambient lighting etc.

Mechanicals: Engine, Transmission And More!

The Q5 facelift comes in as a petrol-only model. It ditches the popular diesel engine and now gets just a 2.0 L, 4 cylinder, turbo petrol engine, churning out 249hp and 370 Nm. The vehicle gets Quattro AWD and an S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission. 0-100 kph run is claimed to take 6.3 seconds and the top speed is 237 kph.

Audi Q5 is said to have had slight reworks on its suspension, whereby damping control was added to the car’s adaptive suspension, to reduce body roll. The vehicle now gets a total of 6 suspension modes- Comfort, Dynamics, Individual, Auto, Efficiency, and Off-Road.

The Q5 has been a popular nameplate for Audi India. The SUV has over the years, driven massive volumes in the country. However, it was discontinued in April 2020, during the BS6 transition. The same had then reflected harshly in Audi India’s sales numbers too. The new SUV is hoped to make up for these and will compete with the likes of Mercedes GLC, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
