2021 BMW 5 Series Priced From INR 62.9 Lakh

The all new BMW 5 Series is available in three variants.

BMW India has announced the launch of the 2021 BMW 5 series sedan in the country, with prices starting from INR 62.9 lakh. The new 5 series gets offered in three variants- 1 petrol (530i M Sport) and 2 diesels (520d Luxury line and 530d M Sport) Bookings have commenced at BMW dealerships pan India. The 2021 5 series had broken covers globally last year.

The 2021 model comes as a replacement to the current generation car which had originally launched here in 2017 and thus gets a host of noteworthy changes.

Exterior Updates

BMW 5 series gets a number of significant styling tweaks for 2021. There are now two new colors on offer- Phytonic Blue Metallic and Bernina Grey Amber Effect. The overall design looks sharper and younger than before. The kidney grilles with chrome surrounds now have sharper contours, headlamps have been redrawn and get adaptive LEDs or laser tech, and the LED DRL design also gets slight tweaks in it. The standard trim (Luxury line) rides on 18 inch wheels while the sportier M Sport gets 20 inch wheels with red brake calipers.

Interior And Features

There are a few noteworthy changes inside the cabin as well. The interior now seems more up-market and premium. The car now gets a new perforated Sensatec leatherette upholstery and stylish high-gloss finish for the controls on the centre console. The car gets the 7-th generation of BMW iDrive system and a 12.3 inch instrument cluster on the M Sport, and a standard 10.3 inch unit.

The iDrive-based infotainment system offers Apple Carplay, Android Auto connectivities and supports BMW Virtual Assistant. Much like what you would expect, BMW Gesture control and Harmon Kardon Surround Sound audio are also on offer here.

2021 BMW 5 Series gets other features like four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, head-up display, BMW display key, Parking Assistant Plus with surround view camera, TPMS, etc.

Specifications

The all new 5 series, much like its predecessor, comes with three engine options-2.0L turbocharged petrol, 2.0L 4 cylinder diesel and 3.0L 6 cylinder diesel. BMW 530i M Sport has the petrol motor churning out a good 252hp and 350 Nm, and can do the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds. The 2.0L turbo-diesel on the 520d Luxury line produces 190 hp and 400 Nm (0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds). The 530d M Sport, however, is the fastest of the lot, taking 5.7 seconds for the 0-100 sprint. On this car, the 3.0L diesel engine produces 265 horses and a whopping 620Nm of torque!

The transmission on offer is an 8 speed steptronic unit, which now offers smoother and quicker shifts. The suspension now offers selectable modes- Comfort, Sport, ECO, PRO and Adaptive. M Sport variants get an additional Sport+ mode as well. The new car gets ABS, DSC, Brake Assist, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering brake control, multiple airbags and the like as safety equipment.
