The 2021 Jeep Compass gets mild exterior tweaks and a highly reworked cabin
Jeep Compass has been one of the biggest success stories for Jeep in India. The Compass is to soon get a much-needed update in the country. The 2021 Jeep Compass has now been unveiled and feels almost like a brand new car. The new SUV gets a bunch of notable upgrades inside-out.
While the overall design remains unchanged, the 2021 Compass gets a new set of headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, a restyled signature seven-slat grille with honeycomb inserts, new front bumper with a larger air-dam and foglamp enclosure. The Compass now sits on a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels. However, the sides and the rear remain unchanged from the outgoing model.
The interior has had tremendous changes to it, all of which further elevate the premium feel of the car. A number of brand new features have been added to the car, making it a lot more desirable. A new 10.1-inch floating infotainment sits atop the restyled dashboard. The new touchscreen runs on FCA’s UConnect 5 infotainment system and supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Air-Con vents and HVAC controls are very well positioned below that.
The SUV gets a new three-spoke steering wheel and fully-digital instrumentation. The double-stitched leather inserts and brushed Aluminium-like trims on the dashboard further enhance the luxury appeal. While the lower variants get an all-black upholstery for the seats, the top-spec Compass’ seats will be finished in dual-tone leather upholstery.
Jeep has got you covered on the safety front with features including, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ESC, hill-start assist, hill descent control, traction control, ISOFIX child seat mount anchorages, 360 degree camera and auto headlamps and wipers.
The 2021 Compass will continue to use the same powerplants as the outgoing model, a 2.0L diesel engine producing 173hp and 350Nm of torque and a 1.4l turbo-petrol with 163hp and 250Nm on tap. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual as standard meanwhile the petrol variant gets an option of 7-speed dual-clutch automatic box and the diesel gets a 9-speed torque converter as options.
The 2021 Jeep Compass would launch next month in the country. Once launched, it will go against the Hyundai Tucson and Skoda Karoq.
