The more capable AMG GLA 35 4M is priced at INR 57.3 Lakh
Mercedes Benz India has launched the 2021 Mercedes GLA here at INR 42.10 lakh (ex.showroom). The vehicle is available in the GLA 200, 220d and 220d 4Matic variants. The beefier AMG 35 guise has also been launched here at INE 57.30 lakh. To be noted here is that these prices are introductory and expected to go up by up to 1.50 lakh, by July. Both the regular and AMG GLAs are brought in via CKD.
2021 Mercedes Benz GLA, What’s New In It?
The all new Mercedes GLA has grown in size and is now better packed in terms of equipment. At 2729 mm, the wheelbase is the best in its segment and the SUV has more headroom compared to its rivals. The design sees major upgrades as well. The new GLA has design inclinations to its larger SUV siblings. The grille now gets a notable makeover, there are new headlamps and tail lamps and redesigned bumpers.
On the inside, there is a decent updation in the equipment array. The infotainment unit and the digital instrumentation get a connected design, much like what we have seen on the latest gen Mercedes Benz cars and SUVs. The car also gets two-zone climate control system, wireless charger. touchpad controller, panoramic sunroof, etc.
The infotainment system gets a 10.25 inch touchscreen unit gets the carmaker’s latest generation MBUX with NTG 6, HD media display and Mercedes Me Connect. The new GLA also gets an autonomous Active brake assist system.
The new GLA, in its progressive line is available with two powertrain options. The GLA 200 draws its power from a 1,332 cc in-line 4 petrol engine mated to 7 speed DCT. This engine is rated at 163 hp / 250 Nm. The 220d and 220d 4M are powered by a 2.0L In -line 4 diesel engine letting out 190 hp and 400Nm, and mated to an 8G-TRONIC transmission. While the GLA 200 and GLA 220d have FWD layouts. the GLA 220d 4M gets the 4MATIC 4WD system.
2021 AMG GLA 35 4M, What’s New In It?
The AMG version of the new GLA is dubbed the ‘GLA 35’, indicating at a 2.0L In-line 4 turbocharged petrol engine spitting 306 hp and 400 Nm under its hood. The car stands out in terms of design by having bolder bumpers, bigger air intakes, 19 inch wheels, AMG-spec Panamericana grille and the like to flaunt.
On the inside, the AMG GLA 35 4M gets the pre-safety suite, AMG spec flat bottom steering wheel, sports seats, 12 speaker Burmester audio, Active Park assist, etc in addition to the features of the Progressive line.
The engine is mated to an AMG tuned 8G DCT transmission and can make the car do the 0-100 run in just 5.1 seconds. The GLA 35 AMG gets AWD system and adaptive AMG suspension. The AMG GLA 35 4M is brought in via CKD, and is the third AMG model to be assembled here, after the AMG GLC 43 and AMG A35
