2021 Volkswagen Polo Teased, World Debut On April 22

The 2021 Volkswagen Polo will have significant design and interior upgrades, mechanical updates could even be expected!

Volkswagen has teased the 2021 Polo for the first time, with the car itself scheduled for a world premiere on April 22. With the premiere, the VW Polo will hit its 6th generation globally. The Polo’s premiere, obviously follows that of the SEAT Ibiza, with which it share a lot of components and technologies.

The teaser image shows a new set of sleek LED headlamps with an illuminated LED strip running through the grille and a lot of style to flaunt. The grille itself seems to have been redrawn and now has a much sportier air to it. The illuminated light bar draws the car closer to the VW Golf in terms of design. A host of significant changes are also expected in the design of the bumpers, tail lamps, and the like. The car would have a new set of wheels as well.

The cabin of the 2021 VW Polo is also hoped to get noteworthy tweaks and equipment additions. A larger touchscreen infotainment system, more advanced connectivity solutions, and reworked dash and center consoles could all be expected.

The hatchback game is expected to heat up globally with the new Polo and Ibiza hitting the markets and the next gen Skoda Fabia joining them on a later date. All the three would be built on the modular MQB A0 platform, with the same mechanicals. This also means that the new Polo could have a set of new powertrains much like the Ibiza.

India Launch?

A few trusted sources have told us that Volkswagen is considering the 8th gen Polo for India. The Indian version would, however, be built on the heavily localized MQB A0 IN architecture, and could have a different set of engines than its global counterpart. Also a previous confirmation by the VW India boss on the manufacturer’s vision to be an ‘SUV brand’ in India could also mean that the 2021 Polo India launch could be at least a couple of years away!
