2022 Honda CBR250RR Trico Edition Launched In Malaysia

CBR250RR gains more visual appeal with the new colourway

Honda has launched a new colorway for the CBR250RR in Malaysia. While everything in the specification and overall styling remains the same as the standard motorcycle, the Trico Edition gets a rigorous rework in its paint scheme. As the name indicates, the CBR 250RR Trico edition gets a 3-shades combination colorway comprising Red, Blue, and White. It apparently draws its inspiration from the new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. The outgoing motorcycle has an all-Red color scheme that had debuted in 2020. The new shade is evidently better than this and comes at no extra cost! The Trico edition bears the same price of RM 25,999 (approx.Rs 4.67 lakh INR) as the standard motorcycle in Malaysia.

Honda CBR250RR Trico Edition: Detailing The Aesthetics

The Trico Edition blends Red, Blue, and White shades judiciously, to synthesize some serious visual appeal. Red dominates the scene, as it can be seen at multiple spots like the front fender, headlamp cowl, side fairing, fuel tank, and seat frame. Blue can be found on the sides, the fairing, and even the seat frame. White marks its presence on the fairing, cowl, and on all brandings and lettering.

You can also spot multiple occurrences of Black on the overall design. Almost all the core parts like the chassis, alloys, parts of the front cowl, and the engine have been blacked out. The USD forks, however, are finished in a shade of Gold, to keep the sporty-quotient high.

Other than the Trico Edition, the Malaysian-spec CBR250RR also has a second colorway of Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic, which has the motorcycle in an all-Black theme with contrasting Red highlights.

Honda CBR250RR Trico Edition: Mechanicals

CBR250RR Trico edition runs on the same 249.7cc, liquid-cooled, 4-Stroke, parallel-twin engine as the standard motorcycle. It can generate 40bhp at 13,000 rpm and 25Nm at 11,000 rpm. The six-speed gearbox gets a slipper clutch and quick-shifters. Suspension duties are handled by Inverted Telescopic front Forks and a Monoshock with Pro-Link System at the rear. 2022 CBR250RR gets an all-digital LCD instrument cluster, all disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, and three different ride modes as well.

India Launch?

The CBR250RR is highly unlikely to make its way to the Indian market. We have had the CBR 250 here in the past. However, going by today’s market winds, the acceptance for quarter-liter fully-faired motorcycles here isn’t reassuring enough. Middle-weight (retro) motorcycles like the CB350 and CB350 RS, however, continue to garner impressive monthly sales volumes.

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has plans of expanding its premium product lineup in India in the time to come. Several new products are expected to debut in the coming years. However, Honda is still very unlikely to bring the CBR250RR to India, considering the current market winds.
