Nexon EV is about to get a major battery upgrade …
Tata Motors is apparently working on a major battery upgrade for the Nexon EV, whereby India’s most selling EV will offer a higher range. The new car will be powered by a 40 kWh battery against the 30 kWh now available but wouldn’t replace the current model.
The new car would sell alongside the current electric Nexon, as part of Tata’s cost-control strategy. The new SUV will be placed above the current model. The electric SUV might have a reduced boot space, to accommodate the larger batteries. The new car would reportedly have a 30% larger battery pack.

The current EV has a real-world range of around 200 kms; against the ARAI figures of 312 km. The new 40kWh car would have up to 400 KM range, according to sources. The new Nexon EV is expected to also feature new alloys, Electronic Stability Control, and would be priced around Rs. 17 lakhs. Expect this vehicle to officially launch in the country in 2022.
