Maruti Ignis Gets ESP And Hill Assist, Prices Hiked!

The Ignis is now RDE and E20 compliant as well!

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has recently upgraded the Ignis hatchback with two new standard features: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Hill Hold Assist. These are intended to improve the car’s overall safety. In the process, the prices have also shot up by up to Rs. 27,000 (Ex-Showroom – Delhi) across variants. Maruti Suzuki Ignis now sells in the Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 7.9 lakh range (ex-showroom in New Delhi).

Electronic Stability Program (ESP)

The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) is an advanced safety system that helps the Ignis maintain stability during skids or similar loss of traction. The system uses sensors to detect the car’s movement and applies brakes to individual wheels, ensuring that it remains stable and under control.

Hill Hold Assist

The Hill Hold Assist is another valuable feature that comes standard with the Ignis hatchback. This system prevents the car from rolling back when starting on an incline, providing a more comfortable and safe driving experience. The feature is especially useful when driving with the AMT automatic transmission of the car, as it can hold the car in place, preventing it from rolling back or stalling. This could be exceptionally useful with the AMT automatic transmission of the car. The hatchback offers both 5-speed manual and 5 AMT transmissions with its 1.2L, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine.

Compliance with E20 and RDE norms

With the recent upgrades, the Maruti Ignis hatchback has also become compliant with the upcoming E20 and Real Driving Emission (RDE) norms. The E20 norm aims at promoting the use of ethanol-blended petrol, while RDE focuses on stricter cuts in actual emissions.
