Mahindra XUV 400 EV Unveiled With 456 Km Range

This prime reveal comes ahead of World EV Day…

Mahindra has taken veils off its first (modern) electric SUV- the XUV 400, built on the popular XUV 300. The vehicle also borrows a lot from the eXUV300 concept showcased at Auto Expo 2020. XUV 400 is expected to have its market launch early in 2023 and the test drives would kick start in December this year.

Mahindra XUV 400: Design And Dimensions

Mahindra XUV 400 gets bigger dimensions than its ICE counterpart. It is significantly longer even when the wheelbase remains unchanged from the ICE car. Key design highlights include a closed EV-spec grille, Redesigned headlamps and DRLs, new bumper designs, tail lamps with more intensive detailing, narrow air intake, multiple touches of Bronze at various places, 16-inch alloy wheels, Twin Peaks logo painted in Bronze etc. There will be a total of five color options on offer. Optional dual tones could have copper-painted roofs.

Mahindra XUV 400: Interior And Features

The overall cabin design remains identical to the XUV 300. The color scheme is Black but with multiple touches of Copper. Almost all the features from the ICE car are retained, like dual zone climate control, sunroof and cruise control. The 7 inch touchscreen runs AdrenoX on XUV 400.

Mahindra XUV 400 Specifications

XUV 400 gets a 39.4 kWh battery pack and a 110kW motor mounted on its front axle. This setup is capable of producing 150 PS and 310 Nm. 0-100 kph is claimed to be done in 8.3 seconds and 150 kph remains the top-speed. There will also be 3 drive modes on offer- Fun, Fast and Fearless. XUV 400 is claimed to return MIDC range figures of 456 km. 0-80 percent charging can be done in just 50 minutes over a 50kW DC fast charger

Mahindra XUV 400 Rivals

The key rival to the electric XUV 400 would be Tata Nexon EV which is now available in two different forms- Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max. The latter could be the most befitting rival, going by the specifications.
