Maruti Suzuki has launched the limited-time Jimny Thunder Edition in the Indian market, at a notably lower price than the outgoing model. Priced from Rs 10.74 lakh ex-showroom, the Thunder Edition is now the new entry point to the Jimny lineup. The carmaker has revealed that this is valid for a limited time. The regular Jimny, if you remember, is priced from Rs 12.74 lakh.

The Thunder Edition is available on the Zeta and Alpha trims. The special edition Jimny gets minor cosmetic changes, additional accessories and no mechanical changes. However, the lower price tag would raise the question of ‘What’s gone missing?’- which Maruti Suzuki chooses not to answer at all!

Maruti Jimny Thunder Edition Specifications
Specifications of the Thunder Edition Jimny remain unchanged. It continues to be powered by the same 1.5L four-cylinder, K15B mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 105hp and 134 Nm. Both the 5MT and 4AT transmissions are available. It also features Maruti Suzuki’s ALLGrip 4WD tech with a low-range gearbox.

With the Thunder Edition rolling out, Maruti Jimny has gained more appeal and better value proposition. It is now 4 lakhs cheaper than the entry-level Thar 4WD MT (petrol). Even with its previous prices, Maruti Jimny has been quite popular among Indian buyers. It sells around 3,000 units a month, and the same is expected to spike with the revised pricing.

Why did Maruti Suzuki launch the Jimny Thunder Edition?
Though we have had no official confirmation on it yet, the Thunder Edition could be aimed at clearing the 2023 inventory. Discounts of up to 1 lakh were available on the Jimny during Diwali. The manufacturer seems to be offering the year-ender price-cuts in the form of a limited-run special edition.
