Tata Harrier Petrol Variant Spied On Test!

Rumors suggest that Tata Motors might price the Harrier petrol so low that it beats the Hector hands down!

The Harrier was a groundbreaking model for Tata Motors in the SUV segment. The car did uplift the goodwill of the company much and at the same time brought in good sales figures as well. The Harrier stays ahead of its competitors like the Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500, but beneath the MG Hector in one aspect- the powertrain. While both Jeep Compass and MG Hector already have a petrol engine on offer and XUV500 is likely to get one with the next-gen coming next year. So to stay in line with the competition Tata might introduce a petrol variant for Harrier.

The new Harrier petrol is likely to be launched in first quarter of 2021 and was spotted testing in Pune by a fellow enthusiast Prem Kumar. The SUV had some emission testing equipments mounted on it at the time when it was spotted, which indicates the SUV could be with ARAI for the testing and homologation processes.

There’s an increasing demand for petrol cars in recent times, even in the SUV segment. Thus, the Harrier petrol will have a significant space in the segment. Also with the petrol variant the starting prices of the SUV will come further down and get even more attractive. Harrier petrol is expected to get a new 1.5L direct injection turbo petrol engine producing 150hp, with the option of either a manual or an automatic transmission.
