The first model in the TVS RP lineup is an Apache !
Two Days after teasing the Race Performance lineup, TVS has launched the first product in it- Apache RTR 165 RP (denotes Race Performance). Priced at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, India), Apache RTR 165 RP dons the brand’s racing decals and is a truly limited series with only 200 units to be ever manufactured.
Design
The Blue, Red, and White color scheme is a tribute to TVS racebikes. It bears a TVS Apache logo atop the tank denoting the nameplate’s 15th-anniversary. There is also a “15 Years, anniversary edition” lettering on the design. The ’15’ in this is so designed to resemble a race track.
The headlamps and tank cowl are aggressive-looking. It also helps the motorcycle achieve better downforce and improve the overall handling at higher speeds. The signature headlamp now gets Class B LEDs, position lamps, and a Stallion insignia. The digital console is race-oriented with 0-60 Km/h lap timer, and a speed recorder.
Specifications
TVS has reworked the engine to give it more oomph. The Apache RTR 165 Race Performance gets a 164.9 cc, four-valve, single-cylinder engine churning out 19.2 hp at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 8,750 rpm. The valves are now bigger by up to 15%.
The 165 RP also gets a wet multi-plate RT slipper clutch mated to its five-speed gearbox, and mufflers have twin pipe-twin-barrel designs. The front suspension is Showa race-tuned Telescopic Forks, while at the rear, TVS has chosen to go with race-tuned Showa Mono Shock. The bike also gets a single-channel ABS, 270mm front discs, and 240mm rear ones. TVS website claims 90 of the 200 units of RTR 165 RP to have been sold in a day’s time.
