Honda has begun taking bookings for the BS6 Gold Wing
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. launched the 2021 Honda Gold Wing in the country with prices starting from INR 37.20 lakh, ex-showroom. The all-new Gold Wing Tour comes in via CBU from Japan and in two different variants- Tour with manual transmission and a top-of-the-line DCT variant. Bookings for the bike are already open via the Honda Big Wing network and the deliveries are expected to commence by July.
The all-new Gold Wing looks even more striking than its predecessor and is gigantic in proportions, due to its overall length and the massive fairing. The overall design has high focus on aerodynamic efficiency. The bike has an extended electric screen that can be easily operated from the rider’s saddle. The headlamp is an all-LED unit and there are dual LED fog lamps too. There are two color options to choose from: Pearl Glare White, Gunmetal black- Matte Morion Black combo.
Features
Much in keeping with the expectations, the MY21 Gold Wing gets oodles of features and equipment. The most notable ones are the luxurious instrumentation cluster comprising a 7-inch full-colour TFT LCD screen, selectable riding modes, Throttle By Wire, cruise control, smart key, audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integrations, passenger audio control, and an advanced navigation system.
The seats on the new Gold Wing Tour have clear separations between them. The pillion seat has been highly reworked for enhancing occupant comfort. Both the seats get Suede/synthetic leather upholstery, offer good ground reach and there is even an adjustable pillion backrest. The rear top-box has also grown in size offering increased luggage carrying capacity.
Chassis
The all-new Honda Gold Wing Tour is underpinned by a die-cast Aluminium twin beam frame, that offers a smooth and stable ride with its engineering excellence. The bike gets a well-engineered double-wishbone front suspension and a pro-link rear monoshock. There are things like Dual Combined Brake System (D-CBS) and a Pro-Arm swingarm in place too.
Engine And Performance
Honda Gold Wing 2021 is powered by an 1833 cc, liquid-cooled flat-6 engine churning out 126 hp and 170 Nm. There are two transmission options to choose from- a 6 speed manual (with slip and assist clutch) and the 7 DCT automatic. The power is channeled via a shaft drive. Honda claims the fuel injection system has been reworked as well.
The manual gearbox is now quieter and smoother. The DCT seems well-tuned and has also become quieter on the new bike. Both the transmissions get an electric reverse feature, something that has always been drool-worthy on the Gold Wing.
The Gold Wing 2021 gets a number of rider aids and electronics like Honda Selectable Torque control, Integrated starter generator, idling stop on the DCT variant, hill start assist, and an airbag on the top-spec trim.
